Dakshina Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha was founded by Mahathma Gandhiji in the year 1918 at Madras (now Chennai) for propogation of Hindi in the south.
Since Hindi, in the Pre-Independance days was almost at the centre stage of the Freedom Movement, people in great numbers came forward willingly to learn Hindi.
Dakshina Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha became a household name so much so that the Central Government thought it fit to introduce a Bill in the Parliament to declare
the Sabha an "Institution of National Importance". The Bill was passed and became an Act - Act 14 of 1964 which declared Dakshina Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha
an "Institution of National Importance".
With this the Sabha gained "University Like" status by dint of which it is a regular member of the "Association of Indian Universities", "Common Wealth Universities" and finds a place in the list of Universities recognized by the University Grants Commission" Dakshina Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha, Karnataka, Dharwad a branch of Dakshina Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha, Madras is in the forefront of propogation of Hindi. All the same, with the changing times, it thought of venturing into General, Technical, and Medical Education as well. Accordingly it added to its objects the providing of Medical and Technical Education Dakshina Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha, Karnataka, Dharwad a branch of Dakshina Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha, Madras offers the following Courses which are recognised by GOK, GOI, CCIM and affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore : M.A., D.Litt., B.Ed ( Hindi Medium ) B.H.M.S ( Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine & Surgery ) B.A.M.S ( Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine & Surgery ) M.D ( Homeopathy) |
